Weight Loss: 4 Reasons You're Not Fit

Most – if not all – of us want to be fit. We daydream about how good we'll look in a bikini or with our shirts off (mostly the guys) on the beach. That's all well and good, but how many of us are living life in our dream bodies? There are tons of reasons that we can cook up to squirm out of getting fit. Some may be good excuses, but at the end of the day, they're still excuses. The following are 4 obstacles and the solutions to reveal your best body ever.

1. You just do not want to be bothered.
In our minds, exercise and condemning ourselves the pleasures of tasty (basically fatty and sugary) foods that we crave are painful experiences. A simple work-around is to picture something painful about being fat. This will motivate you towards healthy eating and exercise. Notice the negative impact your current weight and habits have on your health, self-esteem and lifestyle and make a change.

2. You are crazy busy.
Many of us work too much, over commit ourselves and do not even get enough sleep. You even begin to feel too busy to take care of your health. This is a slippery slope toward a miserable life. Re-prioritizing a few items will free your schedule up to cook healthy meals, exercise and get a good night's sleep. Remind yourself that taking care of your health is not a luxury – it's a necessity.

3. You do not deserve it … or so you think.
Take a moment to think back on all the times you have self-sabotaged your weight loss efforts. If you do not believe deep down that you are worthy then you'll never give yourself a chance at a fit body. Tell yourself that you DO deserve it.

4. You are afraid.
You're either afraid to start because you might fail; or you're afraid you may succeed, and the change makes you uncomfortable – even if it's a good change. Guess what? Getting fit and healthy means you will need to go through a bunch of changes including a new diet, exercise routine, new clothes, uncoovered self-esteem.

Focus on all the ways that losing weight will make your life better. Envision that better life everyday so that it goes from being scary to comfortable and exciting. A part of my job is to help clients overcome the obstacles standing between them and their ideal body. If you have questions, feel free to contact us.

I'm sure you know at least 1 person who's struggling with weight issues? They want to make a healthy change by getting in shape, but the change never seems to take hold. That person may even be you. World-renamed motivator, professional speaker and author, Tony Robbins says that there are 3 basic beliefs that need to hold true for us to reach our goals:

Belief # 1: Something must change: Do you sort of want to get into shape, or do you absolutely have to lose the weight? In order to make a lasting change you must be convinced that it's now or never.

Belief # 2: I must change it: You have to take full responsibility in making the change. It is important to have a good support system, but in the end you are the one who is going to make it happen.

Belief # 3: I can change it: Do not focus on past missteps. Believe that you are capable of losing weight or making any other positive change in your life.

Many people are gung-ho at the beginning and these works for a while, but you'll always return back to what's comfortable. The solution? Start by making small changes.

You've probably heard that two things motivate humans: 1) to avoid pain and 2) to gain pleasure. When you want to change a behavior pattern the key is to associate pain with the behavior that you do not want and pleasure with the behavior that you do want. It's time to retrain your brain to feel good about exercise and to feel bad about gorging late at night. Think about all of the negative things about being overweight and connect these unresolved thoughts to your late night snack. Now think about all of the wonderful things about being in shape and connect these pleasant thoughts to exercise like being toned, having tons of energy and being less stressed out.
